Dr. Hamtandi Magloire Natama is Senior Research Scientist in Parasitology at the Institute for Health Sciences Research (IRSS), Nanoro Clinical Research Unit, Burkina Faso. His work focuses on malaria vaccinology, parasite immunology, and the molecular epidemiology of Plasmodium falciparum. He coordinated the Phase II and III clinical trials of the R21/Matrix-M malaria vaccine between 2019 and 2024, generating evidence that contributed to the World Health Organization’s recommendation of the vaccine for use in areas of moderate and high malaria transmission. Dr. Natama continues to lead and support research on next-generation malaria vaccines and implementation strategies designed to accelerate malaria elimination across Africa.
