Background

Speak Up Africa is a Policy and Advocacy Action Tank dedicated to catalyzing leadership, enabling policy change, and increasing awareness for sustainable development in Africa. Through our platforms and relationships and with the help of our partners, we ensure that policy makers meet implementers; that solutions are showcased and that every sector – from individual citizens and civil society groups to global donors and business leaders – contributes critically to the dialogue and strives to form the blueprints for concrete action for public health and sustainable development.

Roles and Responsibilities

The sanitation program officer will work under the supervision of the Programs Manager. The Sanitation program officer will support Speak Up Africa in designing and implementing all programs related to sanitation in Africa. The Program Officer is expected to work closely with the different departments of Speak Up Africa, as well as with external partners such as Ministries and organizations dealing with sanitation issues in Africa.

Key aspects of the position are as follows:

1- Coordinates and supports the advocacy and communication campaigns implemented during sanitation campaigns.
2- Contributes to the design of communication and advocacy messages, including printings and media supports.
3- Contributes to the campaign monitoring and evaluation plan.
4- Promote an integrated and multi-sectoral approach in the various advocacy and communication campaigns related to sanitation.
5- Document best practices during campaign execution.
6- Produces monthly / quarterly / annual reports on the different campaigns.

Requested Profile

1- Master degree in Social Science, Public Health, International Development or similar required.
2- Demonstrated experience in implementing national advocacy strategies to inform and / or influence health policies and programs strengthening.
3- Ability to work in a team.
4- Experience in project management in the public health and sustainable development sectors.
5- Communication skills and experience in multidisciplinary and multilingual teams.
6- Willingness and ability to travel.
7- Skills in organization, synthesis and report.
8- Excellent organizational and adaptation skills.
9- Good quality of analysis.
10- Good level of English.
